Some Hundred Pages

Some hundred pages

Are all we are gifted with

To pen down the story we want to live.

Some hundred pages

And so much more to think

Scratch a word and wasted is a part of it.

Some hundred pages

And not a word can be erased.

Blots cannot be concealed,

And the plot cannot be changed.

Only one can start over

With the rest of the pages to fill

To resurface the beauty of life

And pen down better things.

There aren’t any rules bounded

To what should be written and doodled on it,

Only that if you waste pages,

You don’t get any new ones to replace the originals with.

Some hundred pages

And our lives depend on it

Because the story we write

Is the story we read (live).

  1. Very well written poem.

It reminds me very much of those lines from The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam:

    The moving finger writes
    and having writ, moves on
nor all thy piety nor wit
can lure it back to cancel half a line
nor all thy tears wash out a word of it.
