Disappearing Lines and concern

He stood before the millions,

Spoke with grave concern about the dying earth.

He frowned and appeared lines of terror on his forehead

As he spoke of population, climate change, and pollution.

He appreciated some and criticized the other,

Spoke for hours while the millions nodded together.

Million nods, contagious yawns,

Declining shoulders, impatient whispers.

Thousands of evidence of apocalypse displayed in front,

X-ray of the dying earth and the elements falling apart…

He kept blabbering while the millions listened and yawned,

He noticed the fading attention and kept fighting beyond.

Million nods, contagious yawns,

Declining shoulders, impatient whispers.

Finally with a loud round of applause they bid him goodbye,

And the curtains flowed  and the auditorium was closed..

Millions hopped on to their vehicles and drove back home.

He stood there watching the people go…

He grieved contamination and the careless humans.

Not a word remembered

Not an enquiry formulated

The seminar was over

And so was the concern.
